Nook Simple Touch to go on sale June 10; MyNook.com launch

As a complement to the highly popular Nook Color, Barnes & Noble has unveiled the Nook Simple Touch Reader, a $139 black & white e-ink touchscreen device with an upgraded 6” screen, faster page-turns and a battery B&N says will hold a charge for two months. Barnes & Noble is taking pre-orders now; the device ships on or about June 10 and will be sold online and in physical Barnes & Noble and partner stores. B&N is also launching MyNook.com, a "lifetime" online account/library that includes all a customer's e-books.     http://goo.gl/AerLZ    http://goo.gl/PJsdb

Liberty Media Makes $1 Billion Bid to Acquire Barnes & Noble

The acquisition would give Liberty Media and its chairman John C. Malone control of 700+ retail locations and 600+ college bookstores. It still faces several hurdles--it must not only secure shareholder and regulatory approval, but the deal is contingent on Barnes & Noble chairman Leonard Riggio’s continued involvement in the company. http://mashable.com/2011/05/19/liberty-media-barnes-noble/

Is a new Nook coming May 24?

Barnes & Noble will be taking advantage of publishing's largest annual conference, Book Expo America -- which runs from May 24-26 in New York -- to announce a new e-reader. That much is certain, even if the bookseller isn't yet disclosing its name. http://goo.gl/V6p6y
